Bio:

Chased by a Cape Buffalo in Botswana and then by a corrupt governor in Tennessee. Abducted by a black market money changer in Mombasa. Spent one New Years Eve in Paradise Bay, Antarctica; another in the Himalayas. Is this from the plot of a novel? Nope. It’s Rob Sangster’s life.

And throw in swimming with Humpback whales, spending the night on top of a Mayan temple in Tikal, Guatemala, and traveling in seven continents and more than 100 countries – all of which were more important to him than earning the last possible dollar. And that attitude led inevitably to . . . becoming a writer. [Read more…]

THE TRUTH ABOUT CARLA

I’ve been such a nomad that I hesitate when people ask me where I’m from. Northern California is the short answer, with Redding my hometown, plus years spent in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the long answer includes New York, Tokyo, LA, Virginia, Seattle, and Florida. It’s hard to keep a library when you move so
much.

I got my BA at Raymond College, a small, liberal arts college that was once (but is sadly no more) part of the University of the Pacific. I took journalism and writing classes, and then my career began in earnest in Tokyo.

Today’s ITW member spotlight is Mimi Latt

Bio: (from the author website)

As a child, I loved books. At bedtime, after the lights were off, I used to hide under the bedcovers with a flashlight and read until the wee hours, or until I got caught–which happened quite often. It would have been great if I’d just grown up to become a writer and lived happily ever after, but . . . on with the real story.
At seventeen I graduated from high school with honors and was accepted into the University of California at Berkeley. My folks thought I could do no wrong, equating good grades with common sense. I proved them wrong when I made a rash decision that summer to get married instead.

By the time I was eighteen, I had a little girl. At the ripe old age of twenty, I was divorced with absolutely no way to support the two of us. So I moved back in with my folks and borrowed the money for secretarial school. After a year of shorthand, typing and bookkeeping, I became a legal secretary–sparking a future interest in the law. Before long, I remarried, and together we had another daughter. Although I loved my family and willingly helped in my husband’s architectural and interior design firm, I still longed for a career of my own.
